Third Angel presented

The Desire Paths

From 10-6pm on Saturday 1 October

Picture a map of your city. Think of the names of its streets and paths. What if those street names didn’t commemorate the past, but instead spoke of our hopes for the future? If you could rename those familiar streets, what would you call them? Would the names be optimistic, happy, romantic? Or a bit more down to earth?

ARUNDEL GATE becomes WHEN ANNE’S SHIP COMES IN STREET

CHAPEL WALK becomes SORT OUT MY LOVE LIFE LANE

SURREY STREET becomes STABILITY ROAD

FARGATE becomes YOUR WAY

Chalking a street map onto the fabric of the city itself, Third Angel shared how the history of Sheffield and its rich tradition as a city of makers is reflected in its street names, and invited the people of Sheffield to rename a street of their choice after a hope or ambition for the future.

Third Angel were joined by the public in Tudor Square to help them draw a city of dreams.

The Desire Paths was an all-day performance held on Tudor Square as part of Sheffield Theatres’ Fun Palaces 2016.
