Bloc Projects: Salon 18
Posted on 13.06.2018
Bloc Projects, 71 Eyre Lane, Sheffield S1 4RB
Bloc Projects’ Salon 18 hosts a series of dynamic workshops, talks and events profiling innovative artists, thinkers and cultural practitioners. With the professional development of Sheffield based artists at its core, the Salon 18 Public Programme is shaped both by emerging national discourse as well as the needs/interests and suggestions of local creative practitioners. Salon 18 launches in March 2018 with a Spring season dedicated to ‘The Local: Conversation, Representation and Collective Organisation’.
In light of the increasingly competitive, often polarizing ecology of contemporary art alongside national cuts to arts funding and rising higher education fees the first season of Salon 18 will place an emphasis on profiling innovative artists, thinkers, makers and academics whose often politicised work has defied these odds. The Spring Term of Salon 18 will promote a necessarily entrepreneurial approach, celebrating collective organisation and economic innovation. This season will also consider and deliberate the responsibility of artists to their immediate community and celebrate those who through their creativity have given dignity and exposure to underrepresented voices.
Their Summer Term line-up starts with:
Artist Talk: Jasleen Kaur

Jasleen Kaur has been invited to deliver an Artist Talk at Gloam.
