Ever felt like dancing in the street? Or giving flowers to strangers? Maybe you just want to sit silently in the middle of the pavement or lie down with your legs in the air in the middle of Fargate? Inspired by Chloë Brown’s research ‘Soft Rebellions’ and her new film, A Soft Rebellion in Paradise (screening 8 June, Paradise Sq), filmmaker and photographer Laura Page invites you to enact small acts of quiet rebellion and record these through photography and video. Bring your camera or phone, if you have one. If not, Laura will help with this.
Acts of Rebellion Screening + Talk
13 June / 6pm
Dina, 32 Cambridge St, Sheffield S1 4HP Free / Book here
The Acts of Rebellion project will culminate in a public screening and discussion with the artist, project participants and University of Sheffield’s Dr. Komarine Romdenh-Romluc, who works on phenomenological conceptions of social identity.
This event forms part of Making Ways, a programme supported by Sheffield Culture Consortium through Arts Council England to showcase, celebrate and develop the exceptional contemporary visual art produced in the city.
